Sehar Retreats

Small retreats to slow down, heal and come home to yourself.

Gatherings of a few days, in the mountains of Manali and beyond, woven from breath, sound, movement, art and ritual.

Our Story

Sehar means dawn

Sehar is an Arabic word for dawn, the first light of the day. For us it names a journey from knowing to becoming.

The name came to our founder, Erah Light, in Konya, Turkey, on Shab-e Arus, the Night of Reunion, when the poet Rumi's passing is remembered. It arrived as a moment of deep presence, and stayed as a quiet calling.

Since then it has grown into a practice of remembrance that we share with the people who join our retreats: a few days set apart, in a small and caring circle, to return to yourself.

“We are not a brand to sell. We are a frequency to awaken.”
Erah Light, founder and curator of Sehar Retreats

The Five Dimensions

What every retreat is shaped around

Each Sehar retreat is made with five qualities in mind. They are less a programme than a direction: a gentle movement back towards yourself.

  1. Stillness

Coming back to the breath, the body and the present moment. A pause in which what is truly yours stays steady.

  2. Embodiment

Living in step with who you really are, and walking through the world as your fullest self.

  3. Healing

Turning gently towards what hurts. In meeting it, you meet yourself.

  4. Awakening

Not becoming someone new, but remembering what has always been there.

  5. Remembrance

The journey ends where it began, in you. A homecoming.

The Practices

Six ways in

Simple, embodied practices, felt rather than learned. Through breath, sound, movement, art and ritual, the layers soften and what was always there has room to return.

  • Conscious breath

Breath is the bridge between body and spirit. Guided breathwork softens the mind, wakes up life force and brings you back to presence and balance.

  • Heart opening with cacao

Sipped slowly in a circle, ceremonial cacao invites tenderness and connection, with yourself and with the people around you.

  • Sound

Singing bowls, chimes, drums and voice help the body settle and the mind quieten, in sound baths that leave you rested and clear.

  • Movement

Through rhythm, music and free, intuitive movement, the body lets go of what it holds and finds its vitality again.

  • Creative expression

Intuitive art and mandala making give shape to what words cannot hold: a mirror of your inner landscape.

  • Fire ritual

Gathered around a fire, we let go of what no longer serves and speak our intentions, watching endings turn into beginnings.
